MASTEK - supplier to Thales UK for winning MoD solution
Mumbai, 2 April 2008
Mastek, the international software solutions company, today announces that as a sub-contractor to Thales UK, it is a supplier for the winning solution to the Air Movement Operations Capability requirement for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the UK.
The Thales led partnership of Mastek, Fujitsu Services and Flyware has developed the "Swift2Move" software solution to meet the MoD’s requirement to manage and schedule the global air movements of troops and cargo which will be deployed over the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII). The total contract win is in the region of £27m GBP and will be implemented over the next 10 years.
The solution is significant for several reasons; firstly this MoD project involves the design and development of a specialist system that handles complex military logistics and defence asset management, providing significant benefits to the MoD in terms of process efficiencies, automation and information governance. Secondly, this new product will be a world first - no other companies have invested in providing a military-targeted product for this domain.
Commenting on this contract win, Scott Hamilton, Director of Government & New Markets at Mastek UK, said, "Mastek has considerable experience of delivering large scale, ground breaking IT projects and this demonstrates Mastek’s commitment to work with Thales and provide truly innovative solutions for the global defence industry."
The global Milaero (Military, Defence and Aerospace) sector is evolving rapidly and this strategic win will ensure the Mastek and Thales partnership is best placed to exploit current and anticipated opportunities to provide leading logistics solutions into the global defence sector.
Steve Latchem, Vice President of Milaero Operations for Mastek UK added, "We are delighted to have won such a high profile MoD contract to work with Thales. In providing very specialist technologies with Thales for the MoD we will be delivering a truly evolutionary solution capability to the MoD to support their global movement operations for years to come"
Robert Pye, Vice President, Business Development & Strategy at Thales said, "We chose Mastek for their innovation and solutioning capability, which has been pivotal to the deal. This agreement is a testament to the way Thales and Mastek have worked together to secure this MoD contract and will allow both companies to exploit the extensive opportunities that exist in the global defence market for innovative solutions to expeditionary military deployment."
